Some of my relatives....

My cousin Celia was on a cruise in Southeast Asia and ending in Australia earlier this month, and met up with my brother Ian and his wife Alison (who is also my webmaster) in Brisbane for a day. A good time had by all!

Forsythia and spring heathers at Heron's Flight.

March 20th 2012 - Spring and work!

I am still fairly bamboozled by all the new functions in Windows 7 and Word too is different – I do not get on so well with change! However, after several attempts to “stabilise” this document, off I go! I notice that I can insert a photo – will dash to the garden for that!

Well, dash I did and now, ages later, I'm temporarily giving up trying to put the two photos in this letter. I'll try again..... But I still have a bundle of Australian photos to be viewed - it really would be more satisfactory and far less stressful if you dropped in here to see them!

The last month has been varied, weather-wise. There have been many wintry days which, in our part of the world, mean cold, windy, wet. However there have been glimpses of Spring and our daffodils are now past their best. The forsythia’s vivid yellow blooms, out before the leaves show, are brightening up the borders, while hyacinths and winter heathers add a splash of colour. And, despite the cool temperatures, the grass is growing too quickly! Once it is cut the first time, I always feel it has the upper hand!

The clocks go forward an hour this weekend and then we shall notice a big difference in the evenings especially. The schools have a fortnight’s holiday beginning on Friday 30 March and I am looking forward to a visit from Catriona and Daniel this time, and hopefully Sam too.

My first guests arrive on April 4th. I shall be very pleased to “open” my doors again!

Before all the pleasurable events however, my new carpeting will be put down, two more double glazed units renewed, the exterior painting of three dormer windows finished and a final tidy up in and out completed.

Roll on light nights and good weather!

Please call in and say hello if you are in this neck of the woods.
