April 13,
2013
Here are Sean, Daniel, Ruah and Amber, in brilliant cold sunshine, with Sean's catch - one large crab!
Tomorrow is
Catriona’s thirteenth birthday and I’m in Edinburgh (again) to say hello to everyone,
especially Catriona! Last night Sam joined us and we went out for a birthday meal - that was lovely.
The schools
have had a fortnight’s holiday and Daniel came first to Plockton. Then, instead of swapping boys half way
through, Sean joined us – first time with two young “fire crackers” and no
parental back up!
The weather,
though still very cold, was sunny from dawn till dusk so the boys were outside
s lot – fishing, playing football and running “up the village” for
messages. The villagers know the boys
and so it is always a good experience for them to go alone and safely for the
newspapers, to deliver something, etc.
We went
indoor swimming several times too, in Kyle of Lochalsh. Daniel had been desperate to go in the loch,
in his wet suit. I let him try once and once was more than enough!! Though we have had a very dry and sunny winter
and spring till now, it has been much colder than usual. We have had the coldest March in fifty years,
compared to the warmest March last year – what a strange climate!
I ran the boys home and enjoyed an unexpected weekend with the family.
When I get
home, again, tomorrow or Tuesday, I shall be grounded for quite a while!
My next excitement is not far away though,
as Ian and Alison arrive for two weeks, on May 21st, from Toowoomba! They’ll
have a few days before that in Edinburgh, where there are relatives to visit
and sights to re-visit, I’m sure.
Towards the
end of April and after that, there are guests booked in fairly frequently and I
am looking forward to meeting them all.
It is a pleasure to have friends, old and new, sharing Heron’s
Flight!
Ruah and Amber share my views!
