I’ve had a
holiday in Edinburgh and it was lovely to be with the family. As the schools had a week’s holiday,
Catriona Sean and Daniel were around most of the time, though Daniel attended a five day football course – complete with one red and one yellow knee-length
stocking – the colours tell the coaches immediately which is the child’s
preferred kicking foot! Such a good
idea!
Catriona has
been in the wars. She had her appendix
removed two weeks ago and was home after two days, to take it easy. Then she had braces fitted on her teeth so eating
was really painful. A few days later she
had a party to look forward to, so things improved dramatically!
Sean was
home most of the time, so he and I did my necessary shopping, accompanied
occasionally by Catriona. We have chosen
upholstery fabric for recovering the head and foot boards of an antique bed, bought
mirrors, stocked up on groceries that are not easy to get in the north and
treated ourselves to the odd meal in the process! I missed seeing Sam, who is at the Border's General Hospital for several weeks. He's enjoying the work and teaching but not being unable to have regular internet along with a poor phone signal!
I travelled
home in snow, for some parts of the journey!
This North West tip of Scotland had missed it as usual. Now it is extremely dry, sunny and very ,very
cold. And the font size has altered for no reason!!
It took a
day or two to settle into the peace and quiet at Heron’s Flight! Ruah was delighted to go out to the garden
whenever she wanted and Amber was very pleased to have us home. She had been spoiled by lavish attention from
two good friends and was a little stand-offish when we re-appeared!
I am pleased
to say that several guests have, in the last few days, booked short stays at Heron’s
Flight, from Easter on. Friends for years Angela and Richard and Dana and David
will be returning later in the year too – wonderful! I do look forward to meeting you all.
Perhaps you too may come to visit
sometime? That we should all like very
much!
Best wishes
Ann
